The theatre of our traditions at the Marmore Waterfall
Archeologia Industriale e Vernacolo is a national festival of dialect theatre that takes place in Marmore, a hamlet of Terni, in Umbria. The subtitle, "the theatre of our traditions", well conveys the spirit of the event: to offer amateur companies from the entire national scene the opportunity to express themselves through theatrical art, enhancing the richness of Italian dialects.
The performances take place outdoors, in a setting of rare beauty: the Upper Belvedere of the Marmore Waterfall, within the Parco I Campacci-Libero Liberati. The Marmore Waterfall, one of the highest in Europe and among the symbols of the Terni area, provides a natural backdrop for the theatre evenings, amidst history, nature, and tradition.
The festival hosts shows in dialect and/or in Italian, preferably unpublished and of a comic or brilliant genre, with a minimum duration of 50 minutes. The event is organized by the Pro Loco Marmore with the patronage of the Municipality of Terni and in collaboration with U.I.L.T. (Italian Union of Free Theatre). Each participating company receives a plaque, a financial contribution, and hospitality for the cast.
The 2026 edition, the XIII, takes place from July 16 to 25 outdoors, at the Upper Belvedere of the Marmore Waterfall, in the Parco I Campacci-Libero Liberati (Path 5). The national dialect theatre review is organized by the Pro Loco Marmore, with the patronage of the Municipality of Terni and in collaboration with U.I.L.T. (Italian Union of Free Theatre).
The call for theatre companies closed on April 30, 2026: works in dialect and/or Italian, preferably unpublished and of a comic or brilliant genre, with a minimum duration of 50 minutes, are admitted. Each participant receives a plaque, a financial contribution, a dinner for the cast, and, for those coming from over 200 km away, accommodation with breakfast.
The schedule of evenings is defined after the selection of the companies (call closed on April 30, 2026). From July 16 to 25, shows by selected amateur companies, in dialect and/or Italian, of a brilliant-comic genre, will be held at the Upper Belvedere of the Marmore Waterfall.
The detailed evening program with titles and companies will be published on prolocomarmore.it shortly before the festival.
