A summer of theatre, music, and comedy between Carsulae and the city squares
The Terni Summer Fest is the summer live performance festival that enlivens Terni, in Umbria, from July to August. Conceived and curated by the Associazione culturale Ingranaggi (Ingranaggi Cultural Association), with the artistic direction of Davide Sacco and Ilaria Ceci, the event combines theatre, music, dance, and comedy in a widespread format that showcases the most evocative locations in the city and the surrounding area.
The festival has a dual soul. On one hand, the Roman Theatre of Carsulae, the ancient amphitheatre in the archaeological area on the outskirts of Terni, which hosts the main evening performances in a unique setting. On the other, the city's historic centre, with urban art and contemporary circus events in Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Tacito, designed to engage the audience in open and accessible spaces.
The Terni Summer Fest brings prominent names from Italian theatre, storytelling, and stand-up comedy to the city, alongside concerts and dance performances. The festival alternates author-driven shows, monologues, comedy acts, and musical tributes, creating a lineup that appeals to both theatre enthusiasts and the general summer audience.
More than just a summer season, the festival is an opportunity to rediscover the link between performance and heritage: the Roman Theatre of Carsulae, one of the most important archaeological sites in the Province of Terni, comes alive again as a space for living culture, while the city squares become open-air stages for the entire community.
The 3rd edition of the Terni Summer Fest enlivens the Terni summer from July 17 to August 27, 2026, with artistic direction by Davide Sacco and Ilaria Ceci (Associazione Ingranaggi). The lineup is divided between evening performances at the Roman Theatre of Carsulae and urban art and contemporary circus events in the squares of the historic centre.
Among the featured artists are Cristiana Capotondi with "L'Attrice" (opening), Stefano Massini with "La ricerca della felicitร ", Arianna Porcelli Safonov with "Minotauri Contemporanei", Gabriele Granito with "Primotango", a stand-up comedy night with Daniele Fabbri, Andrea Di Castro, and Antonio Ricatti, and the grand musical finale "Terni Suona โ Buena Vista Social Club". In the historic centre, there will be performances like "Bottega Schmidlap", "Tutti in Valigia", and "Winner โ The Big Jump".
Terni is reachable by train (RomeโAncona line, Ferrovia Centrale Umbra) and by car via the E45 and the TerniโOrte expressway. The Carsulae archaeological area is located a few kilometres from the centre, in the direction of San Gemini.
Performances at the Roman Theatre of Carsulae require a ticket; events in the historic centre squares are generally free to enter. Information and advance ticket sales are available through the channels of the Associazione Ingranaggi.
