The village of Itieli returns to the Middle Ages with historical reenactments, fire-eaters, and period music
In the small village of Itieli, a hamlet of Narni in the province of Terni, the Serate Medievali (Medieval Evenings) take visitors back in time for a few days. The castle and alleys come alive with historical reenactments, fire-eater shows, medieval music, drummers, and costumed figures, recreating the atmosphere of a village of that era.
Among the most appreciated attractions are the taverns where typical local products are tasted: among these is the schiacciata baked in the ancient wood-fired ovens reignited for the occasion. A special feature makes the experience even more immersive: at the entrance, euros are exchanged for specially minted coins, to be used for purchasing food and drinks along the festival route.
The Serate Medievali is an event cherished by the community of Itieli, which every year stages its historical memory with care and participation. For those visiting southern Umbria, it is an opportunity to discover an authentic village away from the most beaten paths and experience a different evening, filled with entertainment, tradition, and good food.
On July 24 and 25, 2026, the village of Itieli (Narni) hosts a new edition of the Serate Medievali. Two evenings of historical reenactment within the castle walls, featuring fire-eater shows, medieval music, drummers, and costumed figures, as well as taverns where you can taste typical products, from schiacciata baked in wood-fired ovens. At the entrance, euros are exchanged for coins minted for the occasion.
The hourly program for the two evenings will be announced by the organizers closer to the event.
Itieli is reachable by car from Narni along local roads towards the hill; the Orte-Terni dual carriageway and the Narni-Amelia station are the main reference points for those arriving from outside.
At the entrance, you can exchange euros for coins minted for the event, to be spent at taverns and stalls.
