About Palio de l'Acuto

In Casteltodino, a hamlet of Montecastrilli in the province of Terni, the Palio de l'Acuto grandly concludes the Festa di Casteltodino. For over a week, the village comes alive with a tavern serving Umbrian specialties, musical evenings, and activities for all ages, culminating in a final day dedicated to the equestrian competition, costumed parades, and a solemn award ceremony that keeps the castle's historical memory alive.

A village festival culminating in a palio

The Palio de l'Acuto is the highlight of the Festa di Casteltodino, a small hamlet in the Municipality of Montecastrilli, in the heart of the province of Terni. For about ten days, the village transforms into a stage featuring a gastronomic tavern, music, and entertainment, before focusing all attention on the final day of the palio.

Equestrian tradition

The Palio is a horse race accompanied by period costume parades and a solemn award ceremony, recalling the historical origins of Casteltodino. It is an event cherished by the community, organized by the local Pro Loco (local tourism board), which involves residents and visitors in an atmosphere that blends village spirit and historical charm.

At the table

During the festival, the tavern offers the best of Umbrian cuisine: from stewed snails to pizza al testo, from pici all'aglione to porchetta, as well as local DOP cheeses and cured meats. An opportunity to discover the authentic flavors of this corner of southern Umbria.
