The Tuscan stage of the major national festival dedicated to Apennine cycle tourism
On June 27, 2026, the historic center of Pontassieve, in the heart of the Valdisieve near Florence, becomes one of the fourteen capitals of the Appennino Bike Tour Festival: one city per Apennine region, chosen to represent Tuscany in this major traveling event dedicated to cycle tourism and the promotion of Italy's inland areas.
The setting is Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, which will be bustling all day with promotional stands, meetings, sports activities, and social gatherings. Admission is completely free, and the event is designed for families, cycling enthusiasts, curious onlookers, and passing visitors.
The Appennino Bike Tour is the longest sustainable mobility cycle route in the country: over 3,100 kilometers running along the Apennine ridge through 14 regions, from Genoa to Roccafiorita in Sicily. Born in the wake of the 2017 G7 Environment meeting in Bologna and recognized as a dedicated cycling infrastructure, the project is promoted by the Vivi Appennino association in collaboration with the Italian Cycling Federation, ANCI, and Confcommercio.
Every summer, the festival visits one municipality per region, pairing bike rides with a Regional Forum on the sustainable development of the Apennines: an opportunity for institutions, operators, and citizens to discuss the future of mountain villages and territories.
The Pontassieve stage weaves together activities for all ages and interests:
The day is intended to be a village festival, a tourism showcase, and a moment of reflection all in one: a way to discover the Valdisieve by bike and to highlight a vibrant, sustainable, and welcoming Apennine region.
For those who love two wheels, Pontassieve is an ideal starting point between the Chianti Rufina hills and the trails leading toward the Mugello. For families, the pump track area and children's spaces make the event suitable for everyone. And for those who simply want to enjoy a beautiful day in the open air, the combination of good food, music, and hilly landscapes is a guarantee. Participation is free, but online registration on the official website is recommended for the bike ride.
