Ten months of workshops, theatre, and shared arts in dialogue with the Casentino mountains
DisGUIDI - Territorial CONTIngencies is a long-term cultural project taking place in Montemignaio, the least populous municipality in the Province of Arezzo, perched at an altitude of over 700 metres in the heart of the Casentino, in Tuscany. This is not a traditional festival concentrated into a few days, but a ten-month widespread journey, from June 2026 to April 2027, designed to involve residents and visitors in shared practices and to experiment with new ways of living and inhabiting the mountains.
The initiative is supported by the Fondazione CR Firenze and stems from a collaboration with local entities such as the Casentino Ecomuseum, with the contribution of artists, researchers, and scholars. The stated goal is to culturally regenerate the village, transforming it into an open-air socio-environmental laboratory where art, community, and landscape enter into dialogue.
The programme is divided into seven workshops, all free and requiring mandatory booking, led by artists and facilitators:
The main public opening is scheduled for July 11th and 12th, 2026, when the charming Castello village of Montemignaio welcomes visitors without the need for booking. The programme includes the "Connessioni Sentimentali" excursion, the "Omineide" theatre play, the "Lu Fossu" monologue, the sound installation created during the Palestra workshop, and a live concert closing the two-day festival.
DisGUIDI is aimed at those seeking a slow and authentic cultural experience, far from large mass events. It is an opportunity to discover a village in the Tuscan Apennines often off the beaten tourist track, immersed in the woods of the Casentino, and to participate in a collective experiment that weaves together theatre, writing, dance, and landscape care. The project represents an example of how culture can become a tool for the regeneration of inland and mountain areas of Tuscany.
The first edition of the project begins on June 20, 2026, with the Palestra workshop and continues for ten months until April 2027. The calendar alternates between workshops with limited places and moments open to the community, all free of charge.
The public hub is the event on July 11-12, 2026, at the Castello village, with performances, installations, and a concert with free admission. The project is supported by the Fondazione CR Firenze.
