About Appassionata

Appassionata is the annual concert season promoted in Macerata by the Associazione Musicale of the same name, a widespread itinerary that intertwines great masters and young talents in classical, chamber, and contemporary music. Spread throughout the year, from the Teatro Lauro Rossi to the Teatro della Filarmonica, up to the Gran Sala Cesanelli and the Orto dei Pensatori, the festival brings international-level soloists, quartets, and orchestras to the heart of the Marche capital, strengthening the dialogue between music and the city.

Appassionata, the music that spans the year in Macerata

For almost twenty years, Appassionata has accompanied the seasons of the capital of the Province of Macerata, in the Marche region, with a concert series that has established itself as one of the main classical and chamber music events in the region. Promoted by the Associazione Musicale Appassionata with the Municipality of Macerata, the season was born from the idea of inviting everyone to discover the beauty of music through a journey of listening, training, and growth, capable of engaging both the most expert audience and young people and families.

A widespread musical journey through the city

The distinctive feature of Appassionata is its widespread nature: concerts are not held in a single venue but animate some of the most evocative places in the historic center of Macerata. The prestigious Teatro Lauro Rossi remains the heart of the season, alongside the Teatro della Filarmonica, the Gran Sala Cesanelli of the Sferisterio, and the Orto dei Pensatori, as well as other city spaces. This model, consolidated over the years, strengthens the link between music and urban identity, transforming listening into an experience that spans the city.

Great performers and new talents

The Appassionata program alternates established soloists, internationally renowned chamber ensembles, and young emerging musicians, often winners of important competitions. The programming ranges from the great classical repertoire to Baroque music, with incursions into contemporary music and special projects dedicated to cinema and families. Over the years, the festival has hosted pianists, violinists, string quartets, orchestras, and ensembles, building a varied and high-profile artistic offering.

Between tradition and audience development

In addition to the quality of the guests, Appassionata stands out for its attention to audience development, with reduced rates for students and members, flexible subscriptions, and events designed to introduce young people to classical music. The collaboration with the Municipality of Macerata, the Marche Region, the Ministry of Culture, the University of Macerata, and the Academy of Fine Arts testifies to the cultural roots of the initiative in the city's fabric.

For those visiting the Marche, attending an Appassionata concert means experiencing the capital of Macerata in a refined way, discovering historic theaters and new spaces through the common thread of great music.
