Immersive experiences in the world of bees in Strembo, Val Rendena
API LAB EXPERIENCE – Explore Nature with us! is the summer program of the ApiLab project, created by the Val Rendena Beekeepers Association in Strembo, a small village in Val Rendena in the province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige. Launched in 2025, this initiative introduces tourists, families, and curious visitors to the world of alpine beekeeping through hands-on, sensory activities at a mountain farm surrounded by the forests of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park.
The heart of the experience takes place at Maso Doss, above the village of Strembo, where participants are guided through a three-part journey in small groups:
The star of these experiences is the precious rhododendron honey, a true rarity typical of high alpine altitudes. It is distinguished by its very light color and delicate, floral aroma, which captures the essence of high-mountain flora. This product is the centerpiece of the story told by the beekeepers of Val Rendena, guardians of a tradition that combines environmental stewardship with artisanal quality.
ApiLab is part of a broader project by the Val Rendena Beekeepers Association, which has established an Apiculture Center in Strembo with an extraction room, a queen bee breeding station in Val Genova, and a program of educational workshops and apitherapy. Some experiences are also part of the Val Rendena summer events calendar, such as the Mountain Beat Festival, highlighting the bond between the mountains, nature, and culture.
Activities take place in Strembo, with a meeting point at Piazza Giovanbattista Righi followed by a short walk to the farm. Online booking is required. This initiative is an ideal opportunity for families and enthusiasts who want to discover the world of bees and the biodiversity of western Trentino up close.
From July 27 to August 1, 2026, the Val Rendena Beekeepers Association offers a week of events in Strembo with the ApiLab project. At Maso Doss, above the village, participants alternate between the honey-extraction workshop — preparing their own 250-gram jar of rhododendron honey — the apiary listening experience, and guided sensory tastings of honey paired with local products.
The meeting point is at Piazza Giovanbattista Righi, followed by a short walk to the farm nestled in the nature of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park. Online booking is required; activities take place even in case of bad weather.
