The Aperitivo Lungo: Lagundo's Friday night tradition

With the motto "good taste and good music," the Aperitivo Lungo in Algund brings the Church Square (Kirchplatz) to life every summer Friday. Located in the center of Lagundo (Algund), a town in the Burgraviato district at the foot of Merano in the province of Bolzano, the square becomes an open-air lounge where locals and visitors gather to toast at sunset and dance the night away.

How the evening works

The rhythm is tried and tested, edition after edition. From 6:30 PM, the DJ kicks off the festivities with a lounge set, perfect for aperitif hour. From 9:00 PM until around 11:00 PM, a live band takes the stage, energizing the square with rock and pop music. Between songs, guests can stroll among the stalls, sample local treats, and chat; lounge corners and bar tables complete the relaxed atmosphere.

What to drink and eat

The culinary experience is the true highlight of the event. Local Lagundo associations serve sparkling drinks and small snacks, while South Tyrolean wineries offer their wines for tasting. There is a strong focus on South Tyrolean artisanal gins: bartender Hannes prepares cocktails and gin and tonics using local spirits, often with the producers themselves on hand to share their labels. There is even a nostalgic touch with the vintage ice cream van.

A local event

Organized by the Lagundo Tourist Board (Tourismusverein Algund), the Aperitivo Lungo has become a staple of the Burgraviato summer. The Church Square is flat and easily accessible, with underground parking nearby, and is just minutes from Merano: it is the perfect opportunity to experience the most convivial and informal side of this South Tyrolean town.
