About Cherry Fair

Every June, the Ancient Cherry Fair brings the village of Dogliani, in the province of Cuneo, to life in the heart of the Langhe. For an entire weekend, the streets and squares of Dogliani Borgo and Dogliani Castello are filled with market stalls, local farmers, artisan food producers, and top-tier street food. The event celebrates the cherry and the region's productive traditions, featuring children's entertainment, exhibitions, demonstrations of ancient crafts, and a rich food and wine program set within a UNESCO World Heritage wine landscape.

A festival dedicated to the cherry in the heart of the Langhe

The Ancient Cherry Fair is one of the most beloved events on the spring calendar in Dogliani, a charming village in the Province of Cuneo nestled in the hills of the Langhe, in Piedmont. For an entire weekend in June, the whole town transforms into a large, widespread celebration that unites the two hearts of the village: Dogliani Borgo in the lower part and Dogliani Castello in the upper part, connected by a convenient free shuttle service.

The historical roots of the event

The fair has deep roots in local history: the first documented evidence dates back to 1897, when the City Council discussed relocating some town fairs, including the one dedicated to the cherry. Today, the event, organized by the Municipality of Dogliani in collaboration with Confartigianato Cuneo, tells the story of the deep bond between the town and its productive traditions every year, promoting food and wine excellence, artistic craftsmanship, and experiential tourism.

What to find at the fair

The streets of the historic center come alive with about two hundred stalls featuring street vendors, agricultural producers, and hobbyists, while the medieval alleys of Dogliani Castello host exhibitions of local gastronomic and artistic crafts.

  • Artisans of taste in Piazza Belvedere, with excellent street food and Dogliani DOCG wines;
  • Entertainment for families and children, with games, falconry, and demonstrations of ancient crafts;
  • Photography exhibitions, displays, and guided tours of the medieval village;
  • Outdoor experiences in the hills, with gourmet walks and bike rides.

A territory to discover

Dogliani is famous for its Dolcetto wine, which here takes the name of Dogliani DOCG, and is part of the Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visiting the Cherry Fair also means immersing yourself in one of the most fascinating territories in Piedmont, among wineries, hilly panoramas, and top-level gastronomy.
