The Monte Prat plateau, above Forgaria in Friuli in the Province of Udine, is a natural balcony overlooking the foothills and the Carnic Prealps. Here, An Altopiano Entirely to Be Savoured comes to life, an event that, with the slogan "five hamlets, a thousand flavours," transforms the ancient hamlets of the plateau into a grand enogastronomic and hiking route. It's not an event to be rushed, but an invitation to experience the plateau with slow tourism in mind.

Five Hamlets, One Flavour Trail

The heart of the festival is the Open Hamlets formula: a gastronomic walk connecting the five historic hamlets of the plateau - Val Scure, Forchia, Cjondorar, Larchs, and Pra di Centro - where scattered taverns and Pro Loco kiosks offer traditional Carnic and Friulian dishes. Between one hamlet and the next, you'll cross meadows, woods, and panoramic views that make the journey an experience for the eyes as well as the palate.

Nature, Sport, and Tradition

The programme intertwines gastronomy with many outdoor activities: archery competitions, including interregional level ones, guided excursions on Monte Cuar, trekking, photographic walks, activities with donkeys, traditional Friulian games, and creative workshops for families. The evenings come alive with aperitifs, Italian live music, and DJ sets, while June 2nd is traditionally dedicated to the grand collective picnic on the plateau. The event, organised by the Pro Loco of Forgaria in Friuli with the support of the Municipality, is one of the most original offerings of the Carnic spring.
