A convivial lunch hosted by the Alpini Group of Castiglione Torinese
The Alpini Porchetta Feast is one of the most anticipated spring events in Castiglione Torinese, a town in the hills near Turin, in the heart of Piedmont. Organized by the local Alpini Group, affiliated with the Turin section of the National Alpini Association (ANA), the event is much more than just a lunch: it is a moment of gathering that strengthens the bond between the 'black feathers' and the local community.
The heart of the day is the large, convivial table set in the parish hall, just a few steps from Piazza Beata Vergine Assunta. The rich and generous menu focuses on all-you-can-eat porchetta, accompanied by traditional Piedmontese and Po Valley dishes: spring frittata, rustic Russian salad, cotechino with lentils, cappelletti in broth, green salad, and, to finish, a classic fruit tart. A simple, hearty meal designed to be enjoyed in good company.
As every year, the event draws a large crowd, bringing together families, young people, and seniors in a spirit that unites generations around the values of tradition and friendship. The Alpini of Castiglione Torinese, who have been present in the area for decades, are central to the town's community life: from civil celebrations to solidarity initiatives, and festive moments like this, where good food becomes an opportunity for connection.
The Porchetta Feast requires advance booking: seats are limited, and the event attracts many loyal attendees from Castiglione Torinese and neighboring towns every year.
