The Alanno Carnival

The Alanno Carnival is one of the most anticipated events of the winter season in the small town of Alanno, nestled in the hills of the Val Pescara, in the province of Pescara, in the heart of Abruzzo. On Carnival Sunday, the historic center transforms into an open-air stage: allegorical floats, masked groups, music, and confetti flood the streets and squares, offering a day of celebration for residents and visitors alike.

A popular festival organized by the Pro Loco

The event is organized by the Alanno Pro Loco, in collaboration with the Municipality, and is part of the regional calendar of Abruzzese Carnival celebrations promoted by the Pro Loco associations. The parade winds through the village streets and converges in the central square, where the procession concludes with dancing, entertainment, and the distribution of sweets for children. The floats, often crafted by local groups and associations, follow a central theme each year and showcase the creativity of the inhabitants.

Tradition and community

The Alanno Carnival preserves the authentic character of traditional Abruzzese village festivals: a free event, open to everyone, where the community gathers to share music, colors, and joy. Traditional masks mingle with improvised costumes, while the festive atmosphere engages entire families along the parade route.
