About Dicembre Torrese

Dicembre Torrese and Surroundings is the Christmas event program promoted by the Municipality of Torre de' Passeri, in the province of Pescara. From the lighting of the tree in Piazza Plebiscito to Christmas concerts, from the Santa Claus village to markets and bingo games, the program brings the Abruzzo village to life for over a month, blending religious traditions, music, and activities for families and children, with the involvement of the Pro Loco, local associations, and regional choirs.

Dicembre Torrese and Surroundings: Christmas in Torre de' Passeri

Dicembre Torrese and Surroundings is the series of Christmas events that brings Torre de' Passeri, a village in the Pescara Valley in the province of Pescara, in the heart of Abruzzo, to life every year. Promoted by the Municipal Administration with the collaboration of the Pro Loco, the Alpini, parish choirs, and local associations, the calendar accompanies the community throughout the holiday season, from the Immaculate Conception to Saint Anthony Abbot.

A month of events across squares and churches

The heart of the festival is Piazza Plebiscito, where the Christmas tree is traditionally lit and the nativity scene is set up, but the events involve the entire historic center: churches host Christmas concerts, while the squares and the Via Einaudi provincial park host markets, shows, and festive moments. The program intertwines religious and popular dimensions, celebrating the traditions of the Abruzzo region.

Main events

  • Lighting of the tree and nativity scene in Piazza Plebiscito, which officially opens the holiday season;
  • Christmas Market with the "Christmas Island" at the Via Einaudi provincial park, featuring dozens of exhibitors from the provinces of Pescara, Chieti, and L'Aquila;
  • Christmas Concert for Peace in the Church of the Graces, with the Schola Cantorum of Torre de' Passeri and regional choirs;
  • "Here comes Santa Claus!", the gift delivery for children organized by the Pro Loco;
  • Bingo games and square activities, including the traditional football bingo;
  • New Year's Concert with a band and opera singers;
  • Feast of Saint Anthony Abbot which concludes the festival in mid-January.

A community Christmas

More than just a sequence of events, Dicembre Torrese and Surroundings is a way to strengthen the sense of community in a small town in the Pescara hinterland. Volunteer associations, the Alpini, choral groups, and the Pro Loco work together to offer a rich calendar accessible to everyone, with events designed for families, children, and the elderly. Visitors arriving in Torre de' Passeri during the holidays will find a decorated village filled with lights, music, and the warm hospitality typical of Abruzzo.

Torre de' Passeri, also famous for the nearby Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria, offers an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the region during the most evocative time of the year.
