Blues in all its forms at the Teatro Sociale in Alba
In the heart of the Langhe, in the province of Cuneo (Piedmont), the AL Blues Festival has become a staple for those who love the blues and its myriad nuances. The event takes place at the Teatro Sociale "G. Busca" in Alba, transforming the city into a capital of the genre for several days with concerts, exhibitions, cultural meetings, and screenings.
The name "AL" carries a triple meaning: Alba, the host city; ALEC, the cultural association behind the event; and the concept of "going towards," of transcending boundaries. This spirit drives a festival designed as a colorful mosaic where live music engages with literature, visual arts, and cinema.
The AL Blues Festival goes beyond just performances by major national bands. Each edition features the "Blues in copertina" (Blues on the Cover) exhibition, dedicated to vinyl album art and legendary figures of the genre, "Blues Club" sessions with journalists and musicians, book launches, and performances by young students from local music schools and institutes.
This focus on education and youth engagement is a hallmark of the festival: alongside established names in Italian blues, students from local high schools and the conservatory take the stage, creating a bridge between generations.
Supported by the Fondazione CRC and Banca d'Alba, and organized in collaboration with the City of Alba, the AL Blues Festival is a key part of the cultural calendar of this Piedmontese city, world-renowned for its white truffles and the great wines of the Langhe. Admission to all events is free, with mandatory booking for concerts via Eventbrite: a perfect opportunity to discover live blues in one of Piedmont's historic theaters.
The third edition of the AL Blues Festival confirmed the winning formula of the Alba-based event: a "colorful mosaic" of concerts, exhibitions, meetings, and presentations entirely dedicated to the blues and its influences. The beating heart of the event was the Teatro Sociale "G. Busca" in Alba, in the province of Cuneo.
Among the protagonists of the event were the Fabio Treves Blues Band, led by the legendary "Puma of Lambrate," the Gabriel Delta Band with their new album, and the Bonfunky Soul Collective with the Paolo Bonfanti Band, performing a world premiere. Alongside the concerts, the "Blues in copertina" exhibition and the "Blues Club" meetings were highlights.
