About Agrimontana

Agrimontana – Flavours of the Iblei is the grand autumn festival that brings the baroque historic centre of Palazzolo Acreide to life every October, in the heart of the Val di Noto in the province of Syracuse. Between Piazza del Popolo and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, dozens of stalls showcase the finest food and artisanal products of the Iblean territory: from the renowned Palazzolo sausage to Iblean truffles, mushrooms, honey, cheeses, and traditional sweets. A weekend of tastings, mycological exhibitions, excursions, and traditions that draws thousands of visitors from across Sicily every year.

Agrimontana, the autumn festival of the Iblei

Agrimontana – Flavours of the Iblei is one of the most beloved food and wine festivals in the Iblean region, hosted every autumn by the Municipality of Palazzolo Acreide, in the province of Syracuse. The event transforms the town's historic centre into a grand culinary trail dedicated to the typical products of the Iblean mountains, highlighting local food supply chains and craftsmanship.

A baroque village and World Heritage site

The setting is Palazzolo Acreide, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and part of the UNESCO site of the Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto. Monumental churches, noble palaces, and the alleys of the historic centre provide the backdrop for the stalls, which wind mainly between Piazza del Popolo and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the town's two main arteries.

The stars of the show: flavours of the Iblean territory

At the heart of the festival are the gastronomic excellences of the Iblei, prepared and presented by local restaurateurs and producers. Among the most iconic products:

  • The famous Palazzolo Acreide sausage, scented with wild fennel seeds, the pride of local butchery tradition;
  • Iblean truffles and seasonal mushrooms, the stars of the highly regarded mycological exhibition;
  • Cheeses and dairy products from the Iblean mountains;
  • Honey, traditional sweets, and baked specialties;
  • Bread and pasta made with ancient grains, preserves, and artisanal food products.

More than just tastings

Alongside the food stalls, the Agrimontana programme features mycological exhibitions, conferences and thematic meetings on food supply chains, nature excursions to discover the Iblean territory, and guided tours of the village's churches and monuments. Performances, music, and entertainment complete the festive atmosphere, making the event an opportunity to fully experience the rural and cultural identity of this corner of Sicily.

A must-attend event for thousands of visitors

Organised by the Municipality of Palazzolo Acreide with the involvement of the Pro Loco, local associations, and producers, Agrimontana has become one of the highlights of the Sicilian autumn over the years, attracting thousands of visitors from across the island and promoting food and wine tourism in the heart of the Iblei.

Agrimontana — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Agrimontana – Flavours of the Iblei is expected, as per tradition, in October in Palazzolo Acreide. Official dates and the detailed programme have not yet been announced by the organisers; however, the event remains one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the Iblean autumn, featuring stalls of local products, a mycological exhibition, and initiatives dedicated to the flavours of the territory.

The return of Agrimontana – Flavours of the Iblei to the baroque historic centre of Palazzolo Acreide is expected for 2026. At the moment, official dates and the programme have not yet been published by the Municipality; the event is traditionally held in October, over a weekend dedicated to the food and artisanal excellences of the Iblean territory. Visitors are invited to consult the official channels of the Municipality of Palazzolo Acreide and the Pro Loco for updates on dates, times, and the programme.
