The Sagra del Manfricolo

In the heart of the Bassa Umbria (Lower Umbria), in the province of Terni, the Municipality of Avigliano Umbro celebrates its most beloved specialty every August: manfricolo. This is a typical pasta from the Terni area, similar to fettuccine but made with only two ingredients - water and flour - hand-rolled and cooked al dente. There are three traditional sauces: the red (with tomato sauce), the white, and the famous "zozzona", rich and flavourful.

The Tavern and Traditional Cuisine

The heart of the event is the tavern set up by the Pro Loco, where you can enjoy manfricoli along with many other dishes from Umbrian cuisine. Thousands of portions are served every year by volunteers, in an organisational machine that involves the entire town.

Music, Shows, and White Night

Agosto Aviglianese is not just about gastronomy. The streets of the town centre come alive with musical performances, theatre, and dancing evenings, while the Osteria del Cicchio - very popular with younger people - offers live music and an informal atmosphere. There is also a white night, sporting events, activities for children, a little train through the town, and a fireworks display that lights up the Avigliano sky.

A Decades-Old Tradition

Now almost fifty years old, the Sagra del Manfricolo is among the longest-running in Umbria and represents the main summer event in Avigliano Umbro. It is managed by the Pro Loco of Avigliano Umbro, which every year invests passion and work to bring ten days of celebration to life.
