Focaccia baked in a wood-fired oven on the hill of Cerreto
On the hill overlooking Lake Corbara, between Todi and Orvieto, the hamlet of Cerreto di Baschi (in the province of Terni) hosts a festival every August dedicated to a simple and irresistible star: focaccia. Founded in 1992, the event has become one of the most beloved in southern Umbria over the years.
The secret lies in baking it in a wood-fired oven and using a few genuine ingredients, with local suppliers and generous fillings. Cerreto's focaccia is offered in various versions, accompanied by festival food ranging from appetizers, fried items, supplรฌ, sweets, seasonal fruit, wine, beer, and coffee.
In addition to gastronomy, the festival offers live music and areas dedicated to dancing that liven up the evenings. The atmosphere is that of an authentic village festival, where families, groups of friends, and children find a warm welcome.
Organized by volunteers from the Club degli Amici, the Sagra della Focaccia is held in Cerreto di Baschi, a hamlet of the Municipality of Baschi. It attracts thousands of visitors every evening, many of whom take the opportunity to stay and discover the area between the Tiber River and the Lake Valley.
For 2026, the volunteers of the Club degli Amici confirm the annual recurrence of the festival, expected as usual in the first days of August in Cerreto di Baschi. The focaccia baked in the wood-fired oven remains the star, accompanied by festival food and evenings of music and dancing.
The precise dates and evening program for the 2026 edition have not yet been published: they will be released by the organizers on the official website and festival channels in the weeks preceding the event.
The usual structure includes the opening of the food stands every evening with focaccia baked in the wood-fired oven (in multiple versions), appetizers, fried items, and sweets, accompanied by live music and a dance area.
