The summer music festival of the Cuneo valleys
Every summer, the municipality of Chiusa di Pesio, in the Province of Cuneo, becomes the heart of Accademie in Valle, a touring music festival that has been enlivening the villages and valleys of southwestern Piedmont since 2008. Under the artistic direction of Angelo Vinai and organized by the Musicante Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Chiusa di Pesio, the festival offers a program ranging from jazz to classical music, and from singer-songwriter classics to great tributes to the Italian tradition.
The strength of Accademie in Valle lies in its connection to its locations. Concerts are held in the stunning Certosa di Pesio, an ancient Carthusian monastery whose acoustics and architecture harmonize with live music, as well as in historic town squares like Piazza Oreglia, Piazza Cavour, and along Via Roma. The festival extends beyond Chiusa di Pesio: throughout the summer weeks, it also reaches other municipalities in the Cuneo valleys, including Limone Piemonte, Entracque, Vernante, and Demonte, transforming the mountains into a natural stage.
Over the years, the festival has hosted some of the most beloved names in the Italian music scene, with a special focus on jazz and projects that reinterpret classic repertoires. Alongside performances by renowned soloists, the program includes ensembles, brass bands, and tribute shows dedicated to iconic singer-songwriters and the historic voices of Italian pop music. It is an event designed for a curious and passionate audience seeking quality and atmosphere in a breathtaking alpine setting.
Accademie in Valle is supported by local institutions such as the Fondazione CRC, Fondazione CRT, and BCC Pianfei e Rocca de' Baldi, confirming the festival's deep roots in the cultural life of the Pesio Valley and the entire Province of Cuneo. For the public, it is also an opportunity to discover a corner of Piedmont rich in history, nature, and tradition, from the Marguareis Natural Park to the Certosa di Pesio.
