Launched in 2019, the Abruzzo Open has quickly become one of the premier tournaments on the Italian Challenger circuit. The main singles draw features 32 players, complemented by a qualifying tournament and a doubles competition, offering a week of high-level sport. The event enjoys the support of local institutions, the Municipality of Francavilla al Mare, and the Abruzzo Region, as well as the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation.

The eighth edition of the Abruzzo Open, an ATP Challenger 75 tournament with a prize pool of approximately 97,640 euros, was held from May 3 to 10, 2026, in Francavilla al Mare. In a packed facility, with a double sold-out on the final weekend, Argentine Facundo Díaz Acosta claimed the title by defeating Brazilian Gustavo Heide in the final 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, after a battle lasting two hours and thirty-eight minutes. In the doubles tournament, Americans Benjamin Kittay and Ryan Seggerman emerged victorious.
