The Abruzzo Open is the international men's tennis tournament that brings Francavilla al Mare, an elegant seaside resort in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo, to life every spring. Part of the ATP Challenger Tour calendar (Challenger 75 category), the tournament is held on the clay courts of the Circolo Tennis Francavilla al Mare Sporting Club, just a stone's throw from the Adriatic Sea.
Launched in 2019, the Abruzzo Open has quickly become one of the premier tournaments on the Italian Challenger circuit. The main singles draw features 32 players, complemented by a qualifying tournament and a doubles competition, offering a week of high-level sport. The prize pool, which has grown to nearly 100,000 euros, attracts elite athletes every year, often seeking valuable points to climb the ATP world rankings.

The tournament is organized by the Circolo Tennis Francavilla al Mare, with direction entrusted in recent years to former tennis player Gianluigi Quinzi and under the presidency of Francesco Ugolini. The event enjoys the support of local institutions, the Municipality of Francavilla al Mare, and the Abruzzo Region, as well as the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation.
The eighth edition of the Abruzzo Open, an ATP Challenger 75 tournament with a prize pool of approximately 97,640 euros, was held from May 3 to 10, 2026, in Francavilla al Mare. In a packed facility, with a double sold-out on the final weekend, Argentine Facundo Díaz Acosta claimed the title by defeating Brazilian Gustavo Heide in the final 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, after a battle lasting two hours and thirty-eight minutes. In the doubles tournament, Americans Benjamin Kittay and Ryan Seggerman emerged victorious.
Matches are played on the clay courts of the Circolo Tennis Francavilla al Mare Sporting Club, located in the Stadium area of Francavilla al Mare (CH).
