The Passion of Christ comes to life through the streets of the Madonie village
In the heart of the Madonie, at an altitude of over a thousand meters, the small town of San Mauro Castelverde (Province of Palermo, Sicily) preserves one of the most intense religious re-enactments on the island. "A Visària" is the sacred representation of the Passion and Death of Christ: for one day, the entire historic center turns into a traveling stage, where faith, history, and community identity merge into a single emotional journey.
The uniqueness of "A Visària" lies in its immersive nature: there is no fixed stage, but a series of stations that trace the Via Crucis, touching the village's iconic landmarks. The event is promoted by the "L'Eremo" Cultural and Musical Association, in synergy with the Municipality of San Mauro Castelverde and the Parish. The representation is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and supported by European Union funds under the NextGenerationEU program. Admission is free.
