A Tutta Birra Festival is the summer event dedicated to beer that has been enlivening the town of Itala for over a decade—a charming village of just over a thousand residents located on the Ionian side of the Messina province, in Sicily. For three consecutive evenings, usually in mid-July, the coastal district of Itala Marina transforms into a large open-air beer village, featuring food stalls, a live music stage, and a festive crowd arriving from all over the Ionian coast of Messina.

Beer, street food, and local tradition

The heart of the festival is, of course, the beer: a selection ranging from Sicilian craft brews to national, international, and specialty labels, all served on tap in a spacious, well-equipped area. To accompany your pint, there is plenty of street food, including arrosticini, sandwiches, fried delicacies, and local specialties that make the evening a convivial occasion for families, groups of friends, and tourists vacationing along the Ionian coast.

Live music until late at night

Each edition offers a rich program of evening entertainment: concerts by local bands, tribute bands dedicated to the greatest names in Italian music, DJ sets, and performances that keep the square buzzing until late. The evenings typically begin around aperitivo time when the taps open, continuing with shows, beach parties, and music that turn Largo Fontana into an open-air dance floor.

An event born from the youth of Itala

A Tutta Birra Festival is organized by the Giovani di Itala (Youth of Itala), with the support of the municipal administration and local associations. Having reached its eighth edition in 2019, the festival has grown over time to become one of the most popular summer events in this small Messina town, symbolizing a community that gathers around good beer, music, and the joy of being together. Entry to the festival area is free.
