Celebrating autumn flavors in the village of Rimiti, in the Peloritani mountains near Messina
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Autumn Flavors Festival takes place in Rimiti, one of the hamlets of Casalvecchio Siculo, a small town in the province of Messina perched on the slopes of Mount Sant'Elia, in the picturesque Agrò Valley between the Peloritani and Nebrodi mountain ranges. It is a regular November event that transforms the village streets into a lively gathering place, where the local community comes together to celebrate the harvest and traditional gastronomy.
The heart of the event lies in the food stalls, which offer homemade local specialties. Visitors can enjoy authentic products and rustic dishes, paired with fine Nebrodi wines.
The festival is about more than just great food: the evening is enlivened by folk music, dancing, and performances that attract residents and visitors from neighboring towns. Recent editions have featured comedy acts, musical groups, dance schools, and folk ensembles that fill the streets with joy, creating a true celebration of autumn flavors.
Organized by the Tradizioni e Natura Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Casalvecchio Siculo and the local parishes, the festival has a strong sense of identity. The evening traditionally begins with Holy Mass in the village church, reflecting the deep bond between faith, community, and popular traditions that characterizes these small villages in Ionian Sicily. For those seeking an authentic experience far from the main tourist trails, Rimiti offers the chance to discover the genuineness of country cooking and the hospitality of a town that tells its story through food and conviviality.
Details for the 2026 edition of the Rimiti Autumn Flavors Festival have not yet been released. Following tradition, the event is expected to return in November, with food stalls dedicated to chestnuts, sausage, macaroni, and Nebrodi wines, along with the usual musical entertainment and dancing. We recommend checking the official channels of the Municipality of Casalvecchio Siculo for dates and program details as soon as they become available.
Casalvecchio Siculo is located in the Agrò Valley, in the province of Messina. By car, it can be reached via the A18 Messina-Catania motorway, taking the Roccalumera or Santa Teresa di Riva exit and continuing inland along the Agrò Valley. The hamlet of Rimiti is just a few kilometers from the town center.
The festival is traditionally held in November, in the evening. Admission is free; you only pay for what you consume at the food stalls.
As this is an evening event in November in a hilly area, warm clothing is recommended. We suggest checking the dates and program on the official channels of the Municipality and the organizers.
