An experiential journey through the flavors and scents of autumn at the foot of Mount Kalfa
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Autumn Festival takes place in Roccafiorita, the smallest municipality in Sicily, perched over 700 meters above sea level at the foot of Mount Kalfa in the picturesque Agrò Valley, in the province of Messina. The event celebrates autumn and its bounty through an experiential journey that blends taste, tradition, and rural culture, bringing the village's narrow streets and squares to life.
The heart of the festival is a sensory journey through local products, organized into thematic areas. Visitors will find stalls dedicated to:
Beyond tastings, the Autumn Festival focuses on public engagement with educational workshops on bread-making techniques, the preparation of biscuits and macaroni, and the art of cheesemaking. There are also winery visits with wine tastings and traditional cooking classes led by local housewives, who pass down recipes and techniques handed down through generations.
Attending the festival is also the perfect opportunity to visit one of the smallest and most authentic villages in Sicily. From the village streets, you can reach the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Aiuto on the summit of Mount Kalfa, offering views that stretch across the Agrò Valley to the Ionian Sea. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Roccafiorita in collaboration with local associations and businesses, and is a highly anticipated date in the autumn calendar of the Metropolitan City of Messina.
The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: the event is traditionally held in autumn, between October and November.
The 2026 Autumn Festival in Roccafiorita has not yet had its official dates announced. Based on previous editions, the event is expected in autumn, between October and November, with the traditional journey through bread and fresh pasta, cheeses, cured meats, wine, and mostarda, as well as bread-making and cheesemaking workshops. The detailed program will be published by the organizers closer to the event.
Roccafiorita is located in the Agrò Valley, in the province of Messina. By car, it can be reached via the A18 Messina-Catania motorway, taking the Roccalumera or Santa Teresa di Riva exit and continuing inland along the provincial road that climbs toward Mount Kalfa. The nearest train station is in Santa Teresa di Riva on the Messina-Catania line.
The village is small: we recommend parking near the town entrance and continuing on foot. Reservations may be required for guided tours and workshops. For updated information on dates and the program, please check the official channels of the Municipality of Roccafiorita.
