About Autumn Festival

In the village of Roccafiorita, Sicily's smallest municipality, the Autumn Festival transforms the town center into an immersive experience dedicated to seasonal flavors. Nestled between the slopes of Mount Kalfa and the scenic Agrò Valley, stalls offer fresh bread and pasta, local cheeses like tuma and ricotta, sausage, cured meats, oven-roasted porchetta, wine, and mostarda, alongside fresh seasonal produce. The event is enriched by educational workshops on bread-making and cheesemaking, tastings, and traditional cooking classes led by local housewives.

The Roccafiorita Autumn Festival

The Autumn Festival takes place in Roccafiorita, the smallest municipality in Sicily, perched over 700 meters above sea level at the foot of Mount Kalfa in the picturesque Agrò Valley, in the province of Messina. The event celebrates autumn and its bounty through an experiential journey that blends taste, tradition, and rural culture, bringing the village's narrow streets and squares to life.

A journey through local flavors

The heart of the festival is a sensory journey through local products, organized into thematic areas. Visitors will find stalls dedicated to:

  • Grain, flour, bread, and fresh pasta, symbols of the village's agricultural heritage;
  • Cheeses of the Sicilian tradition, including tuma and ricotta;
  • Sausage, cured meats, and oven-roasted porchetta, showcasing local butchery skills;
  • Wines and mostarda, accompanied by tastings;
  • Seasonal fruits and vegetables: country-style soup, wild artichokes, oregano and wild fennel, spinelle pears, autumn apples, and dried fruits.

Workshops and living traditions

Beyond tastings, the Autumn Festival focuses on public engagement with educational workshops on bread-making techniques, the preparation of biscuits and macaroni, and the art of cheesemaking. There are also winery visits with wine tastings and traditional cooking classes led by local housewives, who pass down recipes and techniques handed down through generations.

A village to discover

Attending the festival is also the perfect opportunity to visit one of the smallest and most authentic villages in Sicily. From the village streets, you can reach the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Aiuto on the summit of Mount Kalfa, offering views that stretch across the Agrò Valley to the Ionian Sea. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Roccafiorita in collaboration with local associations and businesses, and is a highly anticipated date in the autumn calendar of the Metropolitan City of Messina.

The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: the event is traditionally held in autumn, between October and November.
