Autumn flavors in the alleys of Forza d'Agrò
When autumn arrives, the village of Forza d'Agrò — a small town perched on the Ionian hills in the province of Messina, Sicily — opens its squares to one of the most anticipated events of the season: the Ottobrata Forzese, dedicated to the flavors and traditions of autumn. Every Sunday in October, from morning until evening, the streets of the historic center come alive with scents, colors, and music, in an atmosphere that draws residents, curious visitors, and tourists traveling along the coast.
The heart of the festival lies in the food and wine stalls set up between Piazza Giovanni XXIII and Piazza V. Cammareri. Among the stalls, you can taste typical delicacies of the season and the Messina territory:
Alongside the food, there are craft stalls and vintage items, where you can rediscover ancient trades and handmade creations, as well as a play area designed for children and families.
During the days of the Ottobrata, there is no shortage of music, dancing, and folkloric performances that accompany your stroll through the stalls. The event is also an opportunity to discover one of the most picturesque villages in Sicily: guided tours of the historic center are available (by reservation), featuring churches, panoramic views of the Strait, and locations made famous by cinema.
Forza d'Agrò is a small municipality with ancient charm, featuring its castle, medieval gates, and the famous Norman arch. Its timeless atmosphere has made it a film set for famous movies, and the Ottobrata adds to this scenery the warmth of an authentic popular festival. Promoted by the Associazione Orchidea ODV with the patronage of the Municipality of Forza d'Agrò, the event has established itself as a fixed autumn appointment in the Messina area, capable of combining taste, tradition, and conviviality.
The event returns to Forza d'Agrò (ME) for every Sunday in October 2026: October 4, 11, 18, and 25. Once again this year, the village squares will host stalls of chestnuts, mushrooms, honey, walnuts, and autumn specialties, along with local crafts, music, dancing, and activities for families.
The organizers of the Associazione Orchidea ODV have confirmed the dates but have not yet released the full program for the individual days. This page will be updated with times and events as soon as the 2026 calendar is made public.
