The spring festival of Campotto featuring eel, asparagus, and the flavors of the Argenta Valleys
The A Tavola con i Sapori della Valle… e non solo Festival is a regular spring event in Campotto, a small hamlet in the Municipality of Argenta, in the province of Ferrara (Emilia-Romagna). For three consecutive weekends in April, Parco Due Ponti comes alive with tables, the aroma of grilling, and valley specialties, in one of the most fascinating wetland areas in Northern Italy.
We are indeed at the gates of the Argenta and Campotto Valleys, the sixth station of the Po Delta Park and a wetland of international importance recognized by the Ramsar Convention. A naturalistic context that is directly reflected on the plate: here, eel, asparagus, and fish are not just ingredients, but the story of a territory where water and land meet.
The gastronomic stand offers genuine and abundant cuisine, faithful to the tradition of the Bassa ferrarese. Among the first courses, tortelloni, lasagne, and tonnarelli stand out, while the main courses range from grilled meat to oven-roasted pork knuckle, to mixed fried dishes and fish-based dishes. Eel, the undisputed queen of the valleys, and seasonal asparagus complete a menu designed to satisfy all palates.
One of the most appreciated features of the festival is the care for visitor comfort: all gastronomic areas are covered and heated, so you can enjoy the festival even with the still capricious early spring weather. Opening is on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 PM, while on Sundays the stands also serve lunch.
In addition to the food, the festival offers entertainment and initiatives for families. Among the new features of recent editions is the Plant and Flower Fishing, an activity dedicated especially to children and gardening enthusiasts. The event is also the perfect opportunity to discover the Campotto Oasis and the Ecomuseum of the Valleys, just a short walk from the festival area.
The festival was held over three consecutive weekends: April 10-11-12, April 17-18-19, and April 24-25-26, 2026. The gastronomic stands opened on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 PM, while on Sundays, service was also available at lunchtime.
The great valley cuisine was confirmed: eel, asparagus, and fish were among the protagonists, with tortelloni, lasagne, and tonnarelli as first courses, and grilled meat, oven-roasted pork knuckle, and mixed fried dishes as main courses. Among the new features of this edition was the Plant and Flower Fishing initiative.
