About A Luna Bona

Every August, the medieval village of Montieri, nestled in the heart of the Grosseto Metalliferous Hills, transforms into an open-air stage for A Luna Bona, a free-admission street arts festival. For one night, the alleys, squares, and stairways of the historic center come alive with roving performances, live music, markets, and food stalls. Organized by the La Meria Cultural Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Montieri, the event is a highly anticipated highlight of the Maremma summer, bringing together residents and visitors in an atmosphere of wonder and joy under the Tuscan stars.

A Luna Bona, the night of street arts in Montieri

A Luna Bona is the street arts festival that lights up the historic center of Montieri every summer, a small village in the Province of Grosseto set within the Metalliferous Hills of Tuscany. For one single August evening, the medieval alleys, small squares, and stairways of the town fill with artists, music, and lights, offering those who journey up here a night of magic, wonder, and entertainment.

Roving performances through the village alleys

The heart of the event lies in its street art format: the public wanders freely through the town and encounters, corner after corner, performances unfolding along the streets. Past editions have featured a program weaving together dance shows, magic acts, street performer exhibitions, and live music, with a special focus on engaging both adults and children. It is not a single stage, but a widespread route where the village itself becomes the natural scenery for the event.

Markets and flavors of the Maremma

Alongside the performances, A Luna Bona offers markets and food stalls featuring street food and local products. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the flavors of the Metalliferous Hills and the Tuscan Maremma while strolling in a convivial atmosphere, among the stalls that enliven the town squares until late at night.

A village to discover

Visiting Montieri during A Luna Bona also means getting to know one of the most evocative villages in inland Tuscany. The name of the municipality is said to derive from the Latin mons aeris, the mountain of copper, referring to the ancient copper and silver mines that marked the history of this territory for centuries, now part of the Metalliferous Hills National Park. On the night of the festival, the stones and alleys of the historic center provide the perfect backdrop for an event that celebrates the town's identity.

An event for everyone, free of charge

A Luna Bona is organized by the La Meria Cultural Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Montieri and is a free-admission event. Its intimate and familiar scale makes it suitable for audiences of all ages, from children to adults, who can experience a unique evening together, punctuated by shows and good food, in one of the most characteristic places in the Grosseto Maremma.

A Luna Bona — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of A Luna Bona is scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM in the historic center of Montieri. Once again this year, the village in the Metalliferous Hills will host an evening of free-admission street arts, featuring markets, live music, roving performances, and food stalls throughout the town's alleys.

The new edition of A Luna Bona is confirmed for Friday, August 14, 2026, starting from 7:00 PM in the historic center of Montieri (GR). The event, organized by the La Meria Cultural Association with the patronage of the Municipality, will once again offer the formula of a night of street arts: performances spread throughout the alleys, live music, markets, and street food. The detailed program with artists and performance times will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
