The Snipe class zonal regatta on Lake Molveno
The 3rd Euregio Molveno Trophy is the sailing event that the Municipality of Molveno, in Trentino-Alto Adige, dedicates to the Snipe class. Organized by the Associazione Velica Molveno ASD, the regatta takes place on the waters of Lake Molveno, at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites, in one of the most famous and award-winning alpine lakes in Italy. For over a decade, the lake has been recognized by Legambiente as one of the most beautiful in Italy, and its basin, surrounded by peaks, provides the natural backdrop for this summer competition.
The Euregio Trophy is a zonal regatta included in the calendar of the Italian Sailing Federation (XIV Zone) and is reserved for the historic Snipe class, one of the most widespread and beloved two-person dinghies in the world. Each edition attracts around twenty boats, with crews from Trentino and neighboring regions competing in various races held in the northern part of the lake. The race course, located near the shore, allows the public to closely follow the maneuvers and starts.
One of the distinctive features of the Euregio Trophy is its accessibility: the regattas can be watched for free from the beaches and meadows surrounding Lake Molveno, making the event a sporting and festive occasion for residents and tourists alike. During the regatta weekend, the Associazione Velica Molveno often proposes side activities related to the lake and sailing, helping to promote the sporting and outdoor vocation of the town, the heart of the Paganella plateau.
Born in 2024 with its first edition, the regatta has grown rapidly to become a fixture of the Trentino sailing summer. The name "Euregio" refers to the Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino Euroregion, highlighting the territorial and collaborative dimension of the initiative. For sailing enthusiasts and mountain lovers, the Euregio Molveno Trophy represents an original way to experience Trentino, combining competitive sport with the beauty of a UNESCO World Heritage Dolomite landscape.
The 3rd Euregio Molveno Trophy is scheduled for July 11 and 12, 2026, with Snipe class regattas organized by the Associazione Velica Molveno ASD as part of the FIV zonal circuit. About twenty boats will compete in the northern part of Lake Molveno, with the main races concentrated on Sunday, July 12. The race course, near the shore, allows the public to watch the spectacle for free from the beaches and meadows surrounding the lake, set against the backdrop of the Brenta Dolomites.
Molveno is located on the Paganella plateau, in the province of Trento. By car, it can be reached from the A22 Brenner motorway (exit San Michele all'Adige-Mezzocorona), continuing towards Val di Non and Valle dei Laghi. The nearest train station is in Trento, which is connected to Molveno by regional bus lines.
The races are held in the northern part of Lake Molveno and can be viewed for free from the beaches and meadows surrounding the water. Public access is free.
For registrations, notices of race, and instructions, it is recommended to consult the official website of the Associazione Velica Molveno ASD and its social media channels.
