The young farmers' festival at the St. Pauls Festplatz
The Zupferfest is the summer festival organized by the Südtiroler Bauernjugend (SBJ, the young farmers' association) of the local St. Pauls group, one of the most picturesque villages in the municipality of Appiano sulla Strada del Vino (Eppan an der Weinstraße), in the province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. Every year in early June, the village Festplatz becomes the meeting point for the entire community: a genuine encounter between farming traditions, music, and great food.
The SBJ group of St. Pauls, founded in the 1970s and celebrating fifty years of activity in 2024, keeps the rural identity of the Oltradige region alive with this event. The Zupferfest is designed as a moment of gathering: the young farmers take care of the hospitality, the kitchen and bar service, and the organization of the entire event, maintaining the informal and family-friendly atmosphere typical of South Tyrolean villages.
The festival features live music with a popular South Tyrolean flair, with plenty of space for dancing and fun until late in the evening. There is no shortage of local culinary specialties, served at stalls set up by volunteers, and a well-stocked selection of drinks, including local wines from the Wine Road. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is that of a classic, convivial South Tyrolean village festival.
St. Pauls is a historic village in Appiano, dominated by its monumental parish church, and is located along the famous South Tyrolean Wine Road (Südtiroler Weinstraße), nestled among vineyards and farmsteads. The Zupferfest is part of a rich calendar of local association events and represents one of the most anticipated early summer gatherings for the inhabitants of the Oltradige area.
In 2026, the St. Pauls Zupferfest was held on Saturday, June 6, concentrating the festivities into a single day at the village Festplatz. As per tradition, the event was organized by the local Südtiroler Bauernjugend young farmers' group, who managed the kitchen, bar, and entertainment.
The day offered live music, South Tyrolean culinary specialties, and wines from the Appiano Wine Road, with free admission. An event that confirmed the Zupferfest as one of the most cherished village festivals of the early summer in the Oltradige region, in the province of Bolzano.
St. Pauls is a village in Appiano sulla Strada del Vino (BZ), in the Oltradige area, just a few kilometers from Bolzano. By car, it can be reached from the A22 motorway (Bolzano Sud exit) by continuing towards Appiano along the Wine Road. By train, the reference station is Bolzano, which is connected to St. Pauls by local South Tyrolean bus lines.
Admission to the festival is free. Food stalls and bars managed by the young farmers are available on-site. It is recommended to check the dates and times on the Appiano tourism website (eppan.com) before traveling.
