An evening of South Tyrolean wine in the Mitterolang park, Valdaora
Wine Life is the premier summer wine event in the municipality of Valdaora (Olang), located in the heart of the Puster Valley, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-South Tyrol). The festival transforms the Mitterolang park (Valdaora di Mezzo) into a vast open-air lounge where visitors can discover and taste the vinicultural richness of South Tyrol, one of Italy's most celebrated wine regions.
The heart of the evening is the tasting: more than one hundred labels offered by a selection of South Tyrolean wineries, allowing guests to wander from stand to stand, glass in hand. Featured producers include renowned local names such as Rottensteiner, the Cantina di Caldaro (Kaltern), and Erste+Neue, alongside numerous other local estates showcasing South Tyrol's white and red grape varieties, from Gewürztraminer to Lagrein.
The wine is accompanied by a rich assortment of South Tyrolean culinary specialties. Highlights include traditional Krapfen prepared by local farmers and expertly curated pairings, such as the guided wine and cheese tasting hosted by Hansi Baumgartner of Degust, a benchmark for cheese aging in South Tyrol.
The evening is set to the sound of live music, with performances that create the relaxed, festive atmosphere typical of summer evenings in the Puster Valley. Wine Life is part of a food and wine weekend that continues the following day with its sister event, Beer Life, dedicated to craft beer.
Wine Life is recognized as a GreenEvent by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. The festival prioritizes sustainability, from the use of regional products to waste reduction, and encourages guests to reach Valdaora using eco-friendly transport such as trains, buses, bicycles, or on foot, leaving their cars at home.
The 2026 edition took place on Monday, July 6, in Mitterolang Park, Valdaora, starting at 6:30 PM with admission from €20. The stars of the show were the over one hundred South Tyrolean wines offered by local wineries, including Rottensteiner, Cantina di Caldaro, and Erste+Neue.
The gastronomic program featured the presentation of the book 'Passion Risotto' with a tasting curated by the three South Tyrolean chefs Heinrich Gasteiger, Gerhard Wieser, and Helmut Bachmann of the So kocht Südtirol team, as well as the highly acclaimed wine and cheese pairing by Hansi Baumgartner of Degust. The evening was accompanied by live music from Hubert Dorigatti and Laura Willeit.
