The longest-running wine festival in Puglia, nestled in the alleys of the Daunian Mountains
In the village of Orsara di Puglia, set among the Daunian Mountains in the province of Foggia, the Wine Festival has been a staple of the community since the late 1980s. With nearly forty editions, it is the longest-running wine festival in Puglia, an event that has grown while remaining true to its roots: celebrating the wine and land of the Daunian Mountains through hospitality, taste, and conviviality. Orsara, which boasts the Orange Flag from the Touring Club and is part of the Cittaslow network, provides the perfect backdrop for an event that blends food, wine, culture, and landscape.
The centerpiece of the festival is the GEO - Orsara Food and Wine Gallery: an itinerant route through the village alleys and squares that, alongside the best local wines, promotes the excellence of Orsara's agri-food production. Along the Gallery, you will find labels from local wineries—from Tuccanese to Ripalonga, and Ursaria, all Daunia IGT certified—paired with dishes prepared by local restaurateurs, ranging from goat cacio ricotta cheese to products inspired by the nearby Irpinia region.
The festival starts in the morning and continues late into the night. The program offers a variety of activities throughout the day:
The Wine Festival is also the perfect opportunity to discover Orsara di Puglia, with its labyrinth of alleys, historic ovens, and the centuries-old tradition of the 'fucacoste' and 'cocce priatorje'. Every year, thousands of visitors arrive in this Daunian village, often using dedicated bus services organized by neighboring towns, to enjoy one of the most authentic food and wine experiences in the Capitanata area and all of Puglia.
On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Orsara di Puglia hosted the 39th edition of the Wine Festival, confirming its position as the longest-running wine event in Puglia. As per tradition, the historic center of the Daunian village came alive with the GEO - Orsara Food and Wine Gallery, the tasting route that pairs local wines with the village's gastronomic specialties.
Along the alleys, visitors enjoyed tastings of local wines—from Tuccanese to Ripalonga, and Ursaria, all Daunia IGT labels—paired with local culinary excellence, such as goat cacio ricotta and typical products from the Capitanata and nearby Irpinia. The day was soundtracked by folk music, DJ sets, and reggae throughout the squares of the historic center.
The Wine Festival took place throughout the day, from morning until late at night, following the established formula of previous Orsara editions.
The detailed schedule and artist lineup for the 2026 edition were announced by the organizers in the days leading up to the event.
Orsara di Puglia is located in the Daunian Mountains, in the province of Foggia. By car, take the A16 motorway (exit) or the SS90 state road; it is about a 40-minute drive from Foggia. For some editions, free shuttle buses from neighboring towns have been provided, with mandatory reservation.
The festival usually takes place in the third week of June or the first weekend of July, lasting a single day from morning until late at night.
Guided tours, excursions, and exhibitions are generally free; the Food and Wine Gallery tasting route requires the purchase of a glass kit and tickets for wine and food samples.
Wear comfortable shoes for the uphill alleys of the historic center and book your cellar visits in advance.
