A festival that tells the story of Monferrato
The Wine and Vineyard Festival is the annual event that brings San Giorgio Monferrato to life every April 25th. This small hilltop town in the province of Alessandria lies in the heart of the Casale Monferrato area. Now in its 39th edition in 2026, the event is one of the longest-running and most cherished food and wine festivals in the region. It was born from a desire to showcase the hard work of local winemakers and producers in an area that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont.
The heart of the festival: Cantina San Giorgio
The event is held at the Cantina San Giorgio, a historic local agricultural cooperative that opens its doors to welcome exhibitors and visitors. Here, you can meet local producers and artisans, with offerings ranging from food and wine excellence to handmade crafts and fresh farm produce, including honey, vegetables, and flowers. Wine is, of course, the star of the show, with Monferrato labels available for tasting and often the presentation of new vintages and labels from the winery.
Tradition, taste, and memory
The choice of April 25th is no coincidence: the festival has always intertwined food and wine conviviality with the memory of the Liberation, featuring themed exhibitions and performances. At noon, the most anticipated moment is the Pro Loco lunch, a journey through the flavors of Monferrato tradition, while in the afternoon, the fair comes alive with musical or cultural performances for visitors and exhibitors alike.
A community event
The event is organized by the Municipality of San Giorgio Monferrato in collaboration with the Cantina San Giorgio and the Pro Loco. It is part of local development projects such as "San Giorgio in Musica," supported by the Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation. More than just a fair, the Wine and Vineyard Festival is a gathering that brings the local community and visitors from the surrounding areas together in an authentic village atmosphere.

Wine and Vineyard Festival — edition 2026
La 39ª edizione della Festa del Vino e del Vigneto si è svolta sabato 25 aprile 2026 negli spazi della Cantina San Giorgio a San Giorgio Monferrato. La giornata ha unito enogastronomia, artigianato e cultura, confermando la formula che da quasi quarant'anni caratterizza la manifestazione. L'edizione si è inserita nel progetto "San Giorgio in Musica", sostenuto dal bando "Musica e dintorni" della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria.
Programme Wine and Vineyard Festival 2026
Sabato 25 aprile 2026 — Cantina San Giorgio
- 10:00 — Apertura ufficiale della fiera con gli stand dei produttori e degli artigiani locali (vini del Monferrato, miele, ortaggi, fiori e manufatti artigianali)
- 10:30 — Inaugurazione della mostra "La solidarietà che ricostruisce", dedicata al 50° anniversario del terremoto del Friuli (visitabile in Cantina fino al 2 maggio, poi trasferita alla Biblioteca Civica)
- 12:00 — Pranzo della Pro Loco con menu della tradizione monferrina
- 16:00 — Momento musicale pomeridiano ad accompagnare visitatori ed espositori
Menu del pranzo Pro Loco: tris di antipasti, agnolotti al sugo d'arrosto, risotto allo Chardonnay con erbe fini, bollito misto con bagnetto, panna cotta con riduzione di Grignolino Chinato.

Location
The festival takes place at the Cantina San Giorgio, located at Strada Casale Asti 164, San Giorgio Monferrato (AL), 15020.
How to get there
By car: San Giorgio Monferrato is easily reached from Casale Monferrato (a few kilometers away) and from the A26 motorway exit. By train: the reference station is Casale Monferrato, from where you can continue by car or bus.
Pro Loco Lunch
The lunch organized by the Pro Loco costs approximately 25 euros per person. Reservations are required and should be made in the days leading up to the festival by calling 0142 806129.
