The Waldfest of ASV Deutschnofen

The Waldfest Sportverein (ASV) Deutschnofen is the summer festival of the local sports club and one of the most cherished events in the calendar of Nova Ponente (Deutschnofen), a German-speaking municipality located on the sunny plateau between the Val d'Ega and the Bolzano basin in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano - South Tyrol. The event takes place at the Festplatz, the village festival grounds, and attracts locals, vacationers, and tourists visiting the Eggental/Val d'Ega holiday area every year.

A village festival dedicated to conviviality

The Waldfest is a classic South Tyrolean folk festival that spans an entire weekend, from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening. Under the tents and in the open air, the sports club volunteers serve Tyrolean culinary specialties, homemade desserts, draft beer, and local wines. The atmosphere is that of a genuine community celebration, where sports become an opportunity to gather and raise funds to support the club's activities.

Music and entertainment

The program features live music with traditional South Tyrolean bands, entertainment, and games. As the official presentation states, "everything is perfectly organized for food, drinks, and entertainment": a promise renewed every year in a family-friendly atmosphere suitable for all ages.

The ASV Deutschnofen

Behind the festival is the ASV Deutschnofen (Amateursportverein), the local amateur sports club founded in 1963. Today, it is a key reference point with over 880 members and twelve sports sections: skiing, soccer, luge, tennis, cross-country skiing, volleyball, bocce, cycling, running, ice sports, climbing, and yoseikan budo. The Waldfest represents the moment when the entire community rallies around its club, blending tradition, sports, and village life typical of South Tyrolean towns.

The setting: Nova Ponente and the plateau

Nova Ponente/Deutschnofen is a popular destination for hiking and winter sports, nestled at the foot of the Sciliar and Catinaccio (Rosengarten) massifs. Participating in the Waldfest means experiencing an authentic slice of South Tyrolean culture, away from the most crowded tourist circuits, amidst meadows, forests, and the warmth of mountain hospitality.
