Electronic music, art, and new media between the historic center of Carrara and the marble quarries
There is a place in Tuscany where electronic music meets the stone that shaped the history of world art: Vox Marmoris, the festival that every summer turns an open-air marble quarry in Carrara into an immersive space dedicated to sound, light, and matter. Now in its ninth edition, the event was conceived by a collective of Carrara-based artists active on the international creative scene and has successfully established a profile that draws some of the most important names in global clubbing and digital art to the city.
The festival is divided into two distinct and complementary parts. By day, the historic center of Carrara becomes the stage for conferences, talks, and art installations, creating an experiential journey open to the city. By night, the Deposito Marmi Successori Adolfo Corsi transforms into an arena of sound and vision: DJ sets, projections, video mapping, and spectacular laser light shows shape the natural environment, creating a dialogue between the dazzling white of the Apuan marble and the power of electronic music.
More than just a music festival, Vox Marmoris is a meeting point for electronic music, visual arts, and the local territory. The Apuan Alps and the quarries that have fueled the Carrara marble industry for centuries become both a natural backdrop and an artistic theme: the material itself, marble, is the protagonist of a multisensory experience that reinvents the perception of the landscape.
Hosting such an event is no coincidence: Carrara, in the Province of Massa-Carrara, has been the world capital of marble for centuriesโthe stone chosen by Michelangelo for his sculptures. Vox Marmoris also ideally engages with the city's other cultural initiatives, which have always been a laboratory for sculpture and contemporary art, helping to showcase a new, experimental side of this corner of Tuscany.
Over the years, the festival has brought leading names from the European electronic scene to the marble walls, attracting fans from all over Italy and abroad. Those looking for an experience different from the usual summer festivals will find an unrepeatable atmosphere here: dancing at dawn in a marble quarry, surrounded by lights and projections, is a memory that stays with you.
The 2026 edition of Vox Marmoris confirms the formula that made the festival famous: talks and installations in the historic center of Carrara during the day, and DJ sets and visual design in the evocative Deposito Marmi at night. Under the theme Music. Matter. Space, the marble quarry returns to being an arena of sound, projections, video mapping, and laser lights.
The lineup brings together some of the most beloved protagonists of the international electronic scene alongside voices from the Italian scene, for two nights of clubbing in an unparalleled setting.
During the day, conferences, talks, and art installations are held in the historic center of Carrara; at night, DJ sets take place at the Deposito Marmi Successori Adolfo Corsi, in the Calagio area. Further artists will be announced soon.
Carrara is easily accessible by car via the A12 motorway (Carrara exit) or by train (Carrara-Avenza station, with buses or taxis to the center and the quarries). The nearest airport is Pisa, about an hour away.
Daytime activities take place in the historic center of Carrara; evening DJ sets are held at the Deposito Marmi Successori Adolfo Corsi, in the Calagio area. Comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for a quarry environment are recommended.
Tickets are available for purchase online via the DICE platform: daily tickets and weekend passes for both nights are available.
