Open-air cinema evenings in the park of Villa Bertelli in Forte dei Marmi
Cinema in Villa is the open-air film festival that enlivens the summer evenings in the park of Villa Bertelli, in Forte dei Marmi, in the province of Lucca. Every Friday evening, from June to August, the screen set up in the villa's greenery welcomes the public for screenings starting at 9:30 PM, when the heat of the Versilia day gives way to the evening breeze.
The Villa Bertelli Foundation's selection focuses on the most popular titles from the past film season: a mix of Italian comedies, auteur films, animated features for families, and major international productions. It is a simple and beloved formula that attracts both residents and vacationers to the heart of the Tuscan coast every summer.
The venue for the festival is one of the iconic landmarks of the town of Forte dei Marmi: Villa Bertelli, with its historic park, has been the main cultural hub of the Versilia town for years, hosting concerts, exhibitions, shows, and meetings throughout the year. Watching an open-air film in this setting, just a stone's throw from the sea and with the Apuan Alps in the background, is an experience that goes beyond a simple screening.
Cinema in Villa was born with a spirit of openness: tickets are affordably priced, with discounts for seniors, children, and residents, as well as free admission for the very young and people with disabilities. The festival is aimed at everyone, from families with children to fans of auteur cinema, and has become a staple of the summer in Forte dei Marmi and the entire Versilia area.
Part of Tuscany's rich summer program, the festival represents one of the most characteristic offerings on the Lucca coastline. The combination of a selection of recent, high-quality films and the enchanting atmosphere of the Villa Bertelli park makes Cinema in Villa a classic of summer evenings on the Tyrrhenian coast, returning punctually every year.
The 2026 edition of Cinema in Villa opens on June 19 with the comedy Le cose non dette by Gabriele Muccino and continues every Friday evening until August 21, when the festival closes with Oi vita mia, the directorial debut of Pio and Amedeo. The program includes Norimberga by James Vanderbilt, La grazia by Paolo Sorrentino starring Toni Servillo, Buen camino by Gennaro Nunziante, the animated films Zootropolis 2 and Jumpers, and The Drama by Kristoffer Borgli starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. All screenings take place in the park of Villa Bertelli starting at 9:30 PM.
