Tractors, agricultural machinery, and Piedmontese gastronomy kick off the regional fair season
The Vigone Agricultural Mechanization Fair is, according to the regional calendar, the first event of the year dedicated to the agricultural sector in Piedmont. It is held every February in the heart of Vigone, a town in the Pinerolo plains in the Province of Turin, transforming the town's squares into a large open-air showcase of the rural world for an entire weekend. It is an appointment that brings together agricultural professionals, families, and enthusiasts in a territory where farming and livestock remain the soul of the local economy.
The heart of the fair is the exhibition featuring about 100 exhibitors of agricultural machinery: tractors, combine harvesters, equipment, and the latest technologies are arranged along Piazza Clemente Corte, the Lea avenues, and the former railway station square. For those who work the land, it is an opportunity to get a hands-on look at the latest market innovations; for visitors, it is a walk among impressive vehicles and technical curiosities.
One of the most beloved attractions is the "miniature fair", set up in the former church of Gesù on Via Umberto I: stables, machinery, and glimpses of the countryside reconstructed in minute detail by agricultural modeling enthusiasts. A journey in reduced scale through the Piedmontese rural landscape, capable of fascinating both adults and children.
Alongside the agricultural vehicles, the event offers a local producers' market and stalls in the historic center, which enliven the town's streets on Sunday with typical products and local specialties. There is no shortage of Piedmontese cuisine, the true common thread of the event: mixed boiled meats (gran bollito misto), Piedmontese fried mix (fritto misto), paella, apericena, and musical moments alternate throughout the weekend in the heated marquee in Piazza Clemente Corte.
The fair is organized by AMAV - Associazione Manifestazioni Agricole Vigonesi, a team of farmers who have been running the event since 2011 with the patronage of the City of Vigone, the Piedmont Region, and the Metropolitan City of Turin. Each edition attracts about 20,000 visitors, confirming the Agricultural Mechanization Fair as one of the most cherished events of the Piedmontese winter.
Every year in February, over three days (from Friday to Sunday).
