Parades of floats in the Veronese Carnival tradition
The Vigasio Carnival is part of the rich and centuries-old tradition of the Veronese Carnival, one of the most deeply rooted in the Veneto region, featuring allegorical floats, traditional masks, bands, and majorettes that liven up the towns of the Bassa Veronese between January and March. Vigasio, in the province of Verona, participates in this calendar with its own events of a strong popular character.
The Vigasio Carnival is divided into several moments. In the hamlet of Isola Alta, the daytime parade organised by the Combriccola col Baraonda, a carnival group born from the union of young people from Isola Alta and Belvedere di Roverbella, takes place. The centre of Vigasio hosts the evocative night parade of illuminated floats, organised by the association Le Ave Mate di Forette with the patronage of the Municipality.
The parades in Vigasio attract floats and masked groups from numerous locations in the province, in a festive atmosphere that involves families, children, and enthusiasts. Amidst music, confetti, food stalls, and the cheerfulness of the participants, the Carnival of Vigasio represents one of the many moments when the community of the Bassa Veronese comes together around a shared and deeply felt tradition.
The Vigasio Carnival 2026 offers two main events. On Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM, the hamlet of Isola Alta hosts the daytime parade organised by the Combriccola col Baraonda. On May 2, 2026, at 8:00 PM, the centre of Vigasio welcomes the spectacular night parade of illuminated floats, organised by the association Le Ave Mate di Forette with the patronage of the Municipality. The events are part of the rich calendar of the Veronese Carnival.
The parades attract floats and masked groups from numerous locations in the province of Verona, with bands, majorettes, food stalls, and entertainment for families.
Vigasio is located in the province of Verona, reachable by car from the A22 Brennero motorway (Nogarole Rocca exit) or from the A4 (Verona Sud exit). The hamlet of Isola Alta and the town centre host the parades.
