The historic parish festival of the capital, for over 200 years
The Saint Louis Festival is the historic parish festival of the capital of Sona, in the province of Verona, a tradition passed down for over two hundred years. It is dedicated to Saint Louis Gonzaga, patron saint of young people, and is rooted in the history of the parish and the community.
For about six evenings in September, the center of Sona transforms into a large festival area, with food stands offering complete menus and a packed entertainment program. The evenings are often themed — from Tyrolean cuisine to Latin American dancing, from afro nights to musical tributes — with shows, entertainment for children, cultural events, and theater in the park of Villa Romani.
The festival culminates with a solemn mass and the grand fireworks display that concludes the festivities. Organized by the parish community of Sona with the support of Pro Loco Sona and numerous volunteers and associations, the Saint Louis Festival is an identity event for the capital, where the religious and popular dimensions merge into a celebration that spans generations.
In 2026, the capital of Sona will once again celebrate its historic Saint Louis Festival, with food stands, themed evenings, shows, religious moments, and final fireworks. The exact date (usually around the first week of September, for about six evenings) will be confirmed by the organizers closer to the event.
Detailed program coming soon: it will be announced by the parish community of Sona with Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the festival. The established format includes six evenings with food stands offering complete menus, themed evenings (Tyrolean cuisine, Latin American dancing, afro nights, musical tributes), shows with horses and skating, theater in the Villa Romani park, a solemn mass, and a final fireworks display.
Themed evenings, theater in the Villa Romani park, and the grand concluding fireworks display.
Sona is located about 12 km west of Verona, reachable by car from the SS11 and the A4 motorway. The nearest train station is Sommacampagna-Sona.
The food stands and shows take place in the center of the capital and in the park of Villa Romani. Free entry to the festival area; food and drinks are paid.
