The Italian capital of risotto
For almost sixty years, at the beginning of autumn, Isola della Scala — a municipality in the Bassa Veronese region, in the province of Verona — becomes the Italian capital of risotto. The Rice Fair, now in its 58th edition in 2026, is the country's largest event dedicated to this dish: for over three weeks, the Parco del Riso Exhibition Centre, known as Palariso, welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the Veneto region and beyond.
Vialone Nano Veronese IGP Rice
The heart of the event is Vialone Nano Veronese IGP Rice, an excellence cultivated in the plain between Verona and Mantua, served in the risotto restaurants in dozens of variations: from the classic risotto all'Isolana with veal and pork to the most creative recipes. With over 15,000 sqm of indoor space in an exhibition area exceeding 40,000 sqm, the fair is second in Italy for visitors and dishes served for a unique product, only behind Munich's Oktoberfest.
Not just gastronomy
Alongside the risotto restaurants, the program offers technical conferences and activities on the world of rice, organized with the National Rice Board and the Vialone Nano Veronese IGP Rice Protection Consortium, as well as shows, concerts, an educational farm, an experiential exhibition dedicated to rice, and an amusement park, in a program designed for families, enthusiasts, and the curious.

The 2026 edition, the 58th, of the Rice Fair enlivens Isola della Scala from September 17 to October 13. Across over 15,000 sqm of indoor space, the risotto restaurants serve Vialone Nano Veronese IGP Rice in numerous variations, while the schedule includes technical conferences with the National Rice Board and the IGP Protection Consortium, shows, concerts, an educational farm, an experiential exhibition on rice, and an amusement park. The event is open every day and every evening.

By car from the Verona Sud exit of the A4 motorway, continuing towards the Bassa Veronese (about 20 km from Verona). Isola della Scala is served by the train station on the Verona–Bologna line.
