The festival that heralds spring in the Mugello

Every year, on a Sunday in May, the historic center of Vicchio dresses up to welcome the new season. The Spring Festival is one of the most cherished events for the community of this village in the Province of Florence, nestled in the green landscape of the Tuscan Mugello. For an entire day, the streets and squares of the town turn into a large open-air garden, where flowers, plants, and the scents of the earth provide the backdrop for a program rich in initiatives dedicated to showcasing the region and its folk traditions.

Nurserymen, florists, and a producers' market

The heart of the event is the exhibition and sale by nurserymen and florists, who color the center with ornamental plants, seasonal flowers, and garden ideas. Alongside them, an extraordinary market of agricultural producers from the Mugello comes to life, featuring authentic local products, as well as numerous hobby and craft stalls. It is the ideal opportunity for a stroll among the stands to discover local excellence in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Ancient crafts and rural culture

A special role is played by the Vicchio Agricultural Group, which hosts demonstrations of ancient crafts: a journey into the farming memory of the area, designed to recover and pass on knowledge and skills linked to the rural culture of the Mugello. Together with the many local associations, the festival becomes a living narrative of the identity of Vicchio, a town that gave birth to great artists such as Giotto and Beato Angelico.

Music, snacks, and conviviality

In the afternoon, the atmosphere becomes even more convivial with the snack organized by the Pro Loco, a meeting point for families and visitors. The day continues with musical entertainment provided by traditional folk groups, including the Maggiaioli delle Caselle and the Vicchio Folk Band, and concludes with the highly anticipated lottery draw. A simple and authentic festival that successfully combines the promotion of local businesses, the appreciation of traditions, and social engagement, contributing to the vitality of Vicchio's historic center.
