The vertical challenge at the foot of Mont Blanc

In Courmayeur, in the Aosta Valley, the Vertical Trail Courmayeur Mont Blanc celebrates one of the most extreme disciplines of mountain running: the vertical. These are races with limited length but very high elevation gain, where athletes tackle thousands of meters of ascent in the shortest possible time, immersed in the panoramas of the Mont Blanc massif.

VK1 and VK2 – Vertical K2000

The program features two main events:

• the VK1, a vertical race from the town center towards the mountain;
• the VK2 – Vertical K2000, the flagship event with approximately 2000 meters of positive elevation gain, one of the most challenging on the international skyrunning calendar.

The finish line is located at high altitude, near the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car stations, in an absolutely prestigious setting.

An event for true specialists

With a limited number of participants, the Vertical Trail Courmayeur is designed for uphill running specialists, but it is also a spectacle for the public who can witness the challenge at the foot of Mont Blanc. The 2026 edition celebrates the tenth anniversary of the event, which has become a firm fixture of Courmayeur's sporting summer, in the province of Aosta.
