About Vertical Fénis
A race that starts from the castle
The Vertical Fénis is the vertical race that enlivens Fénis every May 1st, a municipality in the Province of Aosta known for its famous medieval castle. The race has its iconic start from the castle and develops along the steep paths that climb around the village, testing runners in a display of strength and endurance with a view of the valley.
For everyone: Vertikid and Minitrail
In addition to the main race, the event offers two versions designed to broaden participation:
- Vertikid, dedicated to children and teenagers
- Minitrail, a free-pace route that crosses the less-traveled paths around Fénis, discovering suggestive but often overlooked areas of the territory
The Minitrail stands out for its focus on inclusion: over the years, it has also involved associations for people with disabilities, making the event accessible and open to all.
Sport, tradition, and territory
The Vertical Fénis is part of a broader spring celebration day in the village, which combines sport, tradition, and the enhancement of the territory. In conjunction with the spring events, the MAV - Museum of Aosta Valley Crafts offers workshops dedicated to local trades and traditions. Under the new presidency of Zeno Pucci, the organizing committee aims to ensure the event's continuity by bringing new ideas.
Vertical Fénis — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Vertical Fénis takes place on May 1st, with the traditional start from the medieval castle and two distinct starts for the vertical race. The event also includes the Vertikid for younger participants and the Minitrail, a free-pace route through the less-traveled paths of the village, which over the years has also involved associations for people with disabilities. Under the new presidency of Zeno Pucci, the committee aims to ensure the event's continuity with new ideas. Concurrently, the MAV - Museum of Aosta Valley Crafts offers free workshops on local trades and traditions.

How to get there
Fénis is located about 15 km from Aosta, reachable from the A5 motorway (Nus or Aosta Est exit). The race start is at Fénis Castle.
Registration
Registration for the main race generally closes in mid-April or when places are filled. For Vertikid and Minitrail, you can register up to a few days before the event. Information and registration at verticalfenis.com.
