Kicking off the tourist season on the Vasto Marina seafront
The Spring Festival is the annual event that kicks off the tourist season in Vasto Marina, a seaside district of the Municipality of Vasto, in the province of Chieti, in the heart of the Adriatic Abruzzo region. Spanning the public holidays of late April and May 1st, the seafront transforms into a vast, open-air venue for cultural and recreational events, with activities tailored for a wide audience: families, children, sports enthusiasts, and visitors drawn to the famous Costa dei Trabocchi.
The festival spreads its events across the seafront, squares, and green spaces of Vasto Marina. The program alternates between concerts and live music, entertainment shows, creative workshops for children, and evening performances. There is no shortage of signature events, such as vintage car and Vespa rallies, magic shows, and street performer acts, all adding color and curiosity to the seaside promenade.
Alongside the performances, the Spring Festival offers sports initiatives that take advantage of the coastal setting, from running competitions to beach bocce on the sand. A significant portion of the event is dedicated to markets and exhibition stands, open throughout the festival, and to promoting local flavors: in recent editions, the festival has hosted showcooking events dedicated to brodetto alla vastese, the iconic fish stew of the local maritime tradition.
Sponsored by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Vasto and created in collaboration with the Vivere Vasto Marina Consortium, the festival has become a staple of the Abruzzo spring calendar in just a few editions. It is the perfect opportunity to rediscover the seaside before the summer crowds arrive, enjoying the pine forest, golden sand, and the lively atmosphere of a resort town preparing to welcome the warm season.
The fourth edition of the Spring Festival brought Vasto Marina to life over two weekends, April 25-26 and May 1-3, 2026. The program featured live concerts, widespread entertainment, vintage car and Vespa rallies, creative workshops for children, magic shows, and street performers along the seafront.
On the sports front, the event hosted the "La Diomedea" marathon and beach bocce activities on the sand, while markets and exhibition stands were present throughout the days. The event, sponsored by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Vasto and organized with the Vivere Vasto Marina Consortium, once again marked the start of the summer season on the Costa dei Trabocchi.
Vasto Marina is served by the Vasto-San Salvo railway station on the Bologna-Bari-Lecce Adriatic line. By car, it can be reached via the A14 motorway, taking the Vasto Sud or Vasto Nord exit. Events take place along the seafront and in the marina's squares.
Participation in the festival's initiatives is free. Some activities (showcooking, tastings, tournaments) may require booking or a small contribution. The full program is published on the official channels of the Municipality of Vasto and the Vivere Vasto Marina Consortium.
