The Condove stage of the Susa Valley film, environment, and historical memory festival, featuring the opening night and three days of screenings at the Cinema Comunale.
The Valsusa Filmfest is one of the longest-running and most deeply rooted film events in Piedmont. Established in 1996, it has grown into a permanent laboratory for culture, memory, and civic participation. Organized by the Valsusa Filmfest Association, the festival is a traveling showcase that, year after year, engages various municipalities across the Susa Valley and the city of Turin. The 30th edition, scheduled from March 28 to May 24, 2026, is dedicated to the singer-songwriter and poet Fabrizio De André and spans eight valley towns in addition to the Piedmontese capital.
Condove, a town in the lower Susa Valley in the province of Turin, plays a special role in the event. The Cinema Comunale here hosts the opening night of the entire edition, a symbolic moment that kicks off nearly two months of events spread throughout the valley. This is no coincidence: the Gruppo 33 of Condove is among the festival's founding organizations, a testament to the historic bond between the event and the local community. Following the opening, Condove also hosts three intense days of competition screenings, drawing authors, directors, and enthusiasts from all over Italy.
The Valsusa Filmfest is more than just a film series; it is a cultural project revolving around themes dear to the region, from the historical memory of the Resistance to the environment, from mountain life to civic engagement. The film competition, which receives a large number of entries from Italy and abroad each year, is divided into several thematic sections, including Short Films, Keeping Memory Alive, The Alps, and a section dedicated to the culture of peace. The event also involves numerous schools and dozens of local associations.
The traveling format is the festival's hallmark. By bringing cinema into theaters, civic halls, and community spaces in small alpine towns, the Valsusa Filmfest connects local audiences with cinematic culture and builds a bridge between the valleys and Turin. For Condove and the entire Susa Valley, within the Metropolitan City of Turin, the festival days represent a precious opportunity for cultural enrichment and a meeting point between auteur cinema and civic reflection.
For the 30th edition of the Valsusa Filmfest, dedicated to Fabrizio De André, Condove played a leading role. On Saturday, March 28, 2026, the opening night of the entire event was held at the Cinema Comunale, followed by three days of competition screenings from April 9 to 11. The Condove events were part of the traveling program that, from March 28 to May 24, 2026, visited eight municipalities in the Susa Valley and Turin, weaving together the film competition with civic and environmental reflection in the province of Turin.
Actress Sara D'Amario was among the jury members for the 30th edition. All events in Condove are free to attend until capacity is reached.
Condove is located in the lower Susa Valley, along the Turin–Bardonecchia route. By car, it can be reached via the A32 Turin–Bardonecchia motorway (Borgone exit) or the SS25 Moncenisio state road. By train, the Condove-Chiusa San Michele station is served by the Turin–Modane line. The Cinema Comunale is located in the town center.
