Valsusa Filmfest: Thirty years of community cinema

The Valsusa Filmfest is one of the most long-standing and deeply rooted film events in Piedmont. Established in 1996, it has grown into a permanent laboratory for culture, memory, and civic participation. Organized by the Valsusa Filmfest Association, the festival is a traveling showcase that, year after year, involves various municipalities in the Susa Valley and the city of Turin. The 30th edition, scheduled from March 28 to May 24, 2026, is dedicated to Fabrizio De André, the singer-songwriter and poet, and visits eight valley towns: Almese, Avigliana, Caprie, Chianocco, Condove, Oulx, San Giorio, and Villar Focchiardo, in addition to the regional capital.

The Caprie stop at Teatro Chiara Melesso

In Caprie, in the province of Turin, the festival stops at the Teatro Chiara Melesso in the hamlet of Novaretto. Here, the program focuses on documentary cinema and themes of historical memory, perfectly aligning with the festival's spirit of blending the big screen with civic commitment and reflection on the Alpine territory. The Caprie evening, a highly anticipated event of the 2026 edition, is dedicated to the memory of the Liberation and ties in with the commemorations of late April and early May.
