The US Carisolo Summer Nordic Festival is an international roller ski event organized by the Unione Sportiva Carisolo at the end of summer in the town of Carisolo, in Val Rendena, at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites. The event takes place on the Vioftra Frassanida roller ski track, a modern circuit inaugurated in 2024, built by US Carisolo with the support of the municipalities of Pinzolo and Carisolo and the Autonomous Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige).

A two-day competition

The festival features a two-day format that attracts Italian national team athletes and high-level international competitors. The first day typically features an individual freestyle time trial on the Frassanida track; the following day, the race starts with a handicap format, based on the gaps accumulated in the first stage, on a classic technique course that tackles the climb toward the pastures above Pinzolo. The event is part of the official federal racing calendar and has hosted races valid for the Italian Cup, including youth categories.

The Vioftra Frassanida track

The Frassanida circuit is 2,146 meters long and 4.2 meters wide, with an elevation gain of approximately 90 meters and a maximum gradient exceeding 24%. The track features two loops with varying difficulty levels—one easier for beginners and one more challenging for advanced athletes—and has become a reference point for summer cross-country ski training. In fact, Italian national youth teams have gathered here during the summer to prepare for international competitions.

Nordic sports and the local area

Beyond the competitive aspect, the Summer Nordic Festival is a perfect opportunity to experience Val Rendena at the end of the season, when summer tourism gives way to autumn and the mountains of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park provide a dramatic backdrop to the races. The event highlights the work of US Carisolo, a historic local Nordic ski club, and confirms Carisolo and Pinzolo as a key Trentino hub for roller skiing and cross-country skiing.
