The literature festival in Cave, held between Villa Clementi Park and the Municipal Theatre
Un Parco di Libri is the literature festival that brings Cave to life every year at the end of May. Located in the Prenestini Mountains in the province of Rome, Lazio, the event was born with a clear vision: to bring reading back to the people in an open, shared space where a book is not just a shelf object, but an opportunity for connection. For three days, the greenery of the Monumental Park of Villa Clementi and the halls of the nearby Milco Paravani Municipal Theatre welcome passionate readers and curious visitors alike, who discover new volumes while strolling among the stalls.
The heart of the festival is the historic Villa Clementi park, which hosts exhibition spaces dedicated to independent publishers, bookstores, and associations, offering the chance to browse new releases, specialized texts, and local or national literary works. More formal events, such as presentations and debates, take place inside the Milco Paravani Municipal Theatre, which provides an intimate and evocative setting. The constant movement between the open air of the park and the cozy atmosphere of the theatre gives the festival a unique rhythm—informal yet carefully curated.
The program alternates between author meet-and-greets, book presentations, dialogues, and artistic moments. Great attention is paid to children's and young adult literature, with workshops and initiatives designed to introduce the youngest readers to books through accessible and inclusive language. There is no shortage of conferences, public readings, tastings, and courses, in a blend of culture and conviviality that has become the hallmark of the event. Furthermore, various content is broadcast and made available on social media channels to expand the audience beyond the park's boundaries.
Un Parco di Libri runs in parallel with the Caffè Corretto Literary Prize - City of Cave, a well-established award that has made the Caffè Corretto Cultural Association a point of reference not only for Cave but for the entire Prenestini Mountains territory. The festival is organized by the association with the collaboration and institutional support of the Municipality of Cave and the local Pro Loco.
With its free admission and welcoming atmosphere, Un Parco di Libri has become a staple for the community, capable of uniting readers, writers, and publishers in a weekend of shared words. For those visiting the Lazio hinterland east of Rome, it is also an opportunity to discover Cave and the beauty of the Prenestini Mountains, amidst culture, nature, and hospitality.
The fifth edition of Un Parco di Libri brought Cave to life from May 29 to 31, 2026. The Monumental Park of Villa Clementi hosted stalls from independent publishers and bookstores, while the Milco Paravani Municipal Theatre hosted presentations and debates. The festival, with free admission, offered meetings with authors, public readings, workshops dedicated to young people, and tastings, confirming its status as a staple for the Prenestini Mountains community.
