Udine Half Marathon

One of the fastest half marathons in Italy

Every September, Udine dresses up for the Udine International Half Marathon, one of the fastest and most renowned half marathons on the Italian scene. Over the classic distance of 21.097 km, with a FIDAL-certified course, the race has seen top-level performances over time — here Zersenay Tadese set an exceptional 58'59" — and is an eagerly awaited event for elite athletes and amateur runners from all over Italy and abroad.

More than just 21 km

The Half Marathon is much more than a competitive race: it's an entire weekend of sport that involves the city. Alongside the half marathon, the program offers side events designed for everyone, from non-competitive races to events for children and families, up to the evocative Salita del Castello (Castle Climb), which kicks off the weekend by running up the symbolic hill of Udine.

A race with a charitable heart

From 2026, the event will also host the first Italian Half Marathon Championship for Healthcare Professionals, promoted by FIASO (Italian Federation of Health and Hospital Companies): doctors, nurses, and hospital staff run to promote prevention and healthy lifestyles. An initiative that adds strong and current social value to the competition.

Running in the heart of Friuli

Organized by A.S.D. Maratonina Udinese, founded in 2002, the race runs through Udine and its territory, offering participants a smooth and scenic course. Amidst the warmth of the crowd, the monuments of the city center, and the backdrop of the Friulian plain, the Half Marathon is now a tradition that combines sport, community, and local promotion.
