The cross-border half marathon between Gorizia and Nova Gorica
The GO&GO Half Marathon is Gorizia's great half marathon, the first edition with this name after the 42 historic editions of the Maratonina Città di Gorizia, whose legacy it fully inherits. Organized by ASD Bike&Run Gorizia with the patronage of the Municipalities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica, the race makes the border not a limit but a bridge: the course ideally and physically crosses the border between Italy and Slovenia, in a city that makes the coexistence of peoples its deepest identity.
The distance is the classic half marathon, 21.0975 km, divided into a 10.55 km loop to be repeated twice, with approximately 95 meters of positive elevation gain. The start and finish are located in Corso Verdi, at the intersection with Via Garibaldi, in the heart of Gorizia. The course winds through the historic centers and suburbs of Gorizia and Nova Gorica, touching symbolic places of the Isonzo region and offering runners the unique charm of a race that crosses two states.
Included in the national FIDAL calendar and valid for the Trofeo Provincia di Gorizia, the GO&GO Half Marathon attracts high-profile athletes, including the very strong Kenyans, Ethiopians, and Burundians who animate the fight for victory. Alongside the competitive race, there are also non-competitive formats, designed for enthusiasts and for those who want to experience the running festival without the pressure of the stopwatch.
The event combines competition with a spirit of solidarity, featuring a non-competitive charity walk in support of the SOS Rosa association, which works to combat gender-based violence. Running the GO&GO therefore also means participating in a large community project, on a day that transforms Gorizia and Nova Gorica into a single moving city.
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, Gorizia will be the stage for the GO&GO Half Marathon, the cross-border half marathon organized by ASD Bike&Run Gorizia with the patronage of the Municipalities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica.
