The mountain bike rainbow returns to Val di Sole in Daolasa di Commezzadura
In the summer of 2026, Val di Sole will once again become the center of the mountain bike world. From August 25th to 30th, 2026, the Daolasa di Commezzadura area, in the heart of western Trentino (Autonomous Province of Trento), will host the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, the most prestigious event in the discipline. This is the fourth time the municipality of Commezzadura and Val di Sole have worn the world champion jersey, following the 2008, 2016, and 2021 editions: a historic bond that has earned this corner of the Trentino Alps the nickname "home of the rainbow".
For six days, the world's strongest athletes will compete for 17 world titles across five disciplines: Olympic Cross-Country (XCO), Short Track (XCC), Team Relay, Downhill, and E-MTB. Completing the program is the nighttime spectacle of Four-Cross (4X) and events dedicated to youth and Under-23 categories. Each discipline offers the chance to win the rainbow jersey, the most coveted goal for every biker.
The heart of the downhill races is the legendary Black Snake, one of the most technical and feared downhill tracks on the world circuit, descending through roots, jumps, and rocky sections. The Cross-Country course winds through the woods and rock formations surrounding the Daolasa area, offering a fast and selective track. The high-speed Short Track and Four-Cross races take place in the finish area, in close contact with the spectators.
Organized by the local territory with APT Val di Sole, Trentino Marketing, and the Italian Cycling Federation, the World Championships are much more than just a race: they are a grand six-day festival featuring an exhibition village, entertainment, evening parties (the Val di Sole Bikeland Party), and thousands of fans arriving from all over Europe. Val di Sole, a regular stop on the UCI World Cup circuit in recent years, confirms its status as one of the world's mountain bike capitals and the ideal stage for awarding the rainbow jerseys in the municipality of Commezzadura.
Val di Sole hosts the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships for the fourth time, following 2008, 2016, and 2021. The Daolasa di Commezzadura area welcomes world MTB stars for six days, with the opening ceremony on August 25th and the highlight races on the weekend of August 29th and 30th: Downhill on the legendary Black Snake on Saturday and Olympic Cross-Country on Sunday. 17 rainbow jerseys are up for grabs across five disciplines.
The event area is located in Daolasa di Commezzadura, in Val di Sole (Autonomous Province of Trento). By car: take the A22 Brennero motorway exit at San Michele all'Adige/Mezzocorona, then follow the SS43 Val di Non and SS42 Tonale roads towards Val di Sole.
